Job Description

Toradex is seeking a creative engineer with extensive & diverse embedded systems experience to develop exciting new technology in our Innovation Team. As Innovation Engineer you are responsible for developing & cultivating innovative solutions to challenging problems in the industries of embedded computing & IoT. You will:

  • dissect technical problems with market research and analysis
  • methodically evaluate solution concepts
  • design, implement & test hardware & software proof of concepts

You should be objective, data driven and team oriented. You should be comfortable rapidly learning new technology, being challenged and engaging in open-minded & in-depth debate of technical ideas. Extensive industry experience and a strong foundation in computer science and engineering will be necessary. An intimate working knowledge of software, operating systems, microprocessors & computer circuitry is required. Experience with cloud technology, robotics, artificial intelligence, machine vision or other relevant emerging technologies is also valuable.

  • Working with team members to cultivate new ideas & manage project progression
  • Performing market & technical research and systems analyses
  • Defining solution requirements & specifications
  • Creating software & hardware designs
  • Developing proof of concepts
  • Performing system verification & validation testing
  • Gathering feedback from testers & early users
  • Technical & project documentation

  • Engineering experience in embedded computing, IoT and/or related fields
  • Experience with problem/needs analysis, requirements analysis & conceptual design
  • Experience in technical writing & documentation
  • Extensive knowledge of software languages, data structures and design concepts
  • Experience with software development toolchains & environments
  • Experience with software and hardware troubleshooting
  • Experience with embedded operating systems such as embedded Linux (e.g. Yocto Project, Debian), Android, FreeRTOS, Zephyr, QNX, etc.
  • Knowledge of ARM computer systems
  • Comprehension of computer hardware fundamentals, circuit schematics and component datasheets
  • Familiarity with I2C/SPI/UART/CAN/USB/Ethernet and/or other industrial interfaces
  • Basic knowledge of BSP and OS Driver concepts
  • Basic knowledge of internet & cloud technology
  • Basic knowledge of computer architectures
  • Basic knowledge of graphics & UI frameworks
